OPTIS certified CIE 171:2006

SPEOS the software for design, optimization and visualization of all lighting system in a global environment has been certified according to CIE 171 standards established by the International Commission on Illumination.

The accuracy of the OPTIS software results has been certified by all tests CIE 171: 2006 according to a methodology of comparing simulations with experimental tests.

The SPEOS accuracy is guaranteed by taking into account the optical properties of surfaces, materials and light sources. These properties are obtained by laboratory measurements which are available in the OPTIS Library. They can also be acquired on-demand with the OMS2, the optical properties scanner developed by the OPTIS Systems Team. These solutions are also implemented by the CEA for the optical control of the nuclear fusion reaction of the future ITER nuclear reactor.

This certification validates SPEOS algorithms based on physics laws. SPEOS is the only simulation software of light and human vision which is integrated into the most widely CAD / CAM / CAE applications used such as CATIA V5®, SolidWorks®, PTC Creo® and Siemens NX.

According to Jacques Delacour, CEO and OPTIS founder:

Challenges are many in terms of lighting and energy saving. With the introduction of new technologies such as LED, it is important for professionals in the automotive and architecture sectors to ensure light function while taking into account natural lighting.

Beyond the photometric simulation, OPTIS is the only 3D high-end visualization software editor to obtain this certification.

In addition, unique to the world SPEOS integrates its human vision perception model that simulates color, contrast, and glare effects taking into account the age of the observer. It is now possible to simulate how a person will perceive a showroom, a building, and guarantee the visual comfort of a person at his workstation.

SPEOS is already widely used by automakers evaluating how vehicle drivers will behave combining the dashboard information panel with illuminated buttons, LCD car radios, GPS and now heads-up displays.

SPEOS allows the designer to live the visual experience of the end user. With SPEOS, designers are able to detect and solve glare, reflections, and areas of low visibility. The human-machine interface is now effortlessly optimized for safety and comfort.

From photometric study to physics based real-time visualization in virtual reality environment, the SPEOS software allows you to make the right decisions during all phases of your innovation process.

SPEOS applications are also widely used in the aerospace, electronics, packaging, luxury goods, defense and lighting industries; Jacques Delacour added: “CIE 171 SPEOS certification by the International Commission on Illumination is the result of 25 years of research and development rewarding SPEOS software algorithms based on physics laws. It paves the way towards the digital certification integrated in the design process that covers design, engineering, validation and verification of compliance standards.”

This certification provides an additional guarantee for professionals using SPEOS. OPTIS technology enables them to meet the standards at the first time. The challenger is to reach no physical prototypes in the creative process.
