Job description

We are currently seeking a Consulting Engineer to deliver technical services and consulting for our SPEOS solutions onsite at an OPTIS customer location.  This includes our SPEOS for NX software that enables the simulation & visualization of lighting systems. This is based in automotive lighting and will continue to grow from exterior, interior to other more specialized applications.   This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative software company like OPTIS while also benefiting from working onsite at a leading Automotive company. 


The major responsibilities of this role will involve:


  •  Conducting SPEOS studies on vehicle programs identifying glare, reflections, placement & orientation reflection analysis.  Conduct In-Vehicle materials analysis, SPEOS procedure development and refinement and HMI analysis.
  •  Taking part and conducting vehicle program reviews using SPEOS results
  •  Facilitating software growth within the onsite organization seeking out new opportunities for software development
  •  Delivering support, internal training and knowledge transfer as needed to the Customer onsite.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and customer oriented, with a proven track record in technical consultancy, training and support of software within the automotive sector. The candidate must be able to adapt quickly to new environments and must have sufficient working knowledge of SPEOS to be able to solve problems and communicate solutions with customers at a technical level.


Suitable candidates will have the following skills and experiences:


  •  An Engineering degree in either Mechanical, Automotive or Aerospace disciplines;
  •  A thorough working knowledge of optical theory and SPEOS software
  •  Working knowledge of common CAD/PDM environments (including CATIA, NX, etc.)
  •  Practical experience within the lighting: Design, Engineering or Manufacturing departments in the automotive industry;
  •  A positive customer-facing attitude, able to solve problems and instruct others on the solution;
  •  A confident speaker able to give clear technical presentations including software démonstrations.

This is a full-time, direct position reporting to the Technical Manager of America.  It will be based in Metro Detroit and will involve very little travel during the onsite placement.  This position also includes full medical, dental and vision benefits; 401K match, paid vacation & sick days and much more!
