The brand new integration of SPEOS into a CAD platform, is now available to accompany users in their lighting simulation: this new version gives SOLIDWORKS®’ users access to the core of OPTIS technologies, and gives them the possibility to experience their future product in a virtual environment and in use, with a simulator. 



The software has been developed to bring full SPEOS capabilities and power to SOLIDWORKS®’ users. Mainly targeting SMEs, OPTIS has entirely modified their offer, providing subscription-based licensing for more flexibility – both in terms of configuration and of project management - and a real simplicity of use.

The first thing for us was to facilitate the use of the software for non-expert users. An intelligent and intuitive interface allows all the players in the field of lighting to take advantage of the power and reliability of SPEOS without wasting their time with too complex parameters. Opening the doors of the SPEOS technology to SOLIDWORKS users gives users access to the brand new OPTIS HPC technology. SPEOS is HPC compatible to realize powerful simulation on complete models and to preview light and ergonomics simulations, with the highest possible accuracy, in almost real time.


With this new version, all the power of SPEOS’ kernel is now operable into SOLIDWORKS, guaranteeing an interoperability between the simulations created in CATIA and in SOLIDWORKS®, easing the customer relationships between OEMs and their suppliers, when they do not use the same CAD program. Always striving at helping both big companies and SMEs, OPTIS has also enriched its own libraries of sources materials and standards, and developed a research tool based on optical criteria: they thus provide easy access to a wide range of virtual LEDs, sensors, materials, that cannot always be acquired or accessed too easily or swiftly in real life. All companies can thus base their future design on the latest innovations virtually, meaning quickly, and easily.


The approach to geometry and materials has also been reviewed to stick to reality and provides users with more physically realistic virtual prototypes.

This new version also opens the doors to virtual reality for the lighting industry, a unique opportunity for OPTIS customers, especially SMEs. The software’s simulation results are now Virtual Reality-ready and can be reviewed with any VR helmet and in any Virtual Reality Center (Multi-screens, CAVE). OPTIS’ main objective is to enable the software’s users to collaborate and communicate and to make decisions about the next iteration in the light development cycle. With SPEOS’ Virtual Reality capabilities, they can create true-to-life virtual mockups which are used as real decision-making tools. It will be a way for all customers including SMEs to create amazing demonstrators of their innovations and present them in an attractive, virtual reality way.
