Optical Shape Design

Automatically create the perfect optical surface in your CAD environment. With Optical Shape Design, optical and lighting systems are integrated in the Product Lifecycle Management to support mechanical design and concurrent engineering. Optical Shape Design provides an intuitive and powerful suite of tools to automate the design of advanced optical components. Geometries dedicated to optical and lighting systems like reflectors, lenses, light guides... are automatically generated, within your CAD software both from mechanical and optical specifications. It complements your CAD software geometric workbenches. Being fully integrated into CAD software, Optical Shape Design avoids all data transfer tasks and the associated drawbacks (failures, loss of accuracy, time taken). Beyond this, it takes advantage of the standard capabilities of modern CAD tools. From the early design phase, Optical Shape Design enables designers without advanced optical knowledge to quickly and easily investigate different style options even before selecting a supplier.

Digital Vision and Surveillance

Before your target object exists, virtually test your full system in its future environment. Digital Vision and Surveillance is a physical modeling of real cameras with both lens and sensor parameters. Identify the most suitable camera products, optimize their position and orientation, and evaluate the impacts of any design change. Visualize their field of view with pixels grid projected on the 3D environment to verify you will detect your target.

A unique convincing tool, Digital Vision and Surveillance takes the characteristics of commercially available cameras, the optical behavior of materials, and natural and artificial light (visible, IR and UV) into account. It then analyzes these elements to produce physically correct images as generated by real camera systems. Once you have obtained the virtual camera-image, you will be able to define and apply your post-processing to instantly validate it.

Windshield Analysis

Windshield Analysis provides windshield manufacturers a powerful engineering tool to improve their development process, to speed up reactivity and to enhance support to their customers. This validation tool can be used at all the stages of the design process, saving effort on invalid designs, evaluating the impacts of modifications and guaranteeing an independence from suppliers. Dedicated to optical regulation analysis and dynamic distortion visualization, Windshield Analysis lets CAD users test the compliance of a windshield with ECE R43 and SAE Z26 regulations. This module also enables the simulation of typical experiments, such as sighting target reflection and transmission. Moreover, it provides optical parameters such as deviation, distortion, refractive power to characterize a given windshield; it also allows to generate the distortion of an image or a video to find out what the effect of the curvature of the windshield shape will be.

Head-Up Display

OPTIS HUD solution brings cutting edge features specifically dedicated to HUD development:

Embedding optical knowledge and seamless integration in the CAD/PLM environment, it enables drastic improvement within the current development process by anticipating issues at a very early development stage.



For each new vehicle in development, the challenge is early stage validation of the technical feasibility of a HUD, according to windshield shape and packaging constraints. Mechanical engineers must be able to design an optical system and improve the perceived quality of the image.

‘SPEOS HUD Optical Design’ is an intuitive application dedicated to optimizing layout and shapes directly in your CAD environment. You generate rotation axis and calculate angles for several drivers' sizes. You display the required optical volume.


By supplementing the exterior view of the traffic conditions with information in real time for the driver, HUDs take comfort, safety and automotive experience to a new level. Permanently in the driver’s line of sight, the HUD becomes a key feature to convey and boost your brand image. More than just satisfying ergonomic requirements, the information displayed now has to reach your Perceived Quality targets.

OPTIS offers a reliable lifelike visual experience of a HUD system still in its virtual state.
